During your visit, a thorough examination and testing will be performed by the doctor and staff members. Our goal is to make your experience safe, efficient, and informative.
Depending on what needs to be addressed, your visit may last as short as 30 minutes or as long as 1–3 hours. We appreciate your patience as we dedicate the time your eyes deserve.
The doctor and staff are on-call to answer your questions and address emergencies at any time. Simply call our office — calls are directed to our clinic during business hours and to a physician on-call after regular hours and on weekends.
Step by Step
What Happens During Your Visit
Arrival & Check-In
Upon arrival, you will check in at the front desk and receive forms to complete. A medical technician will thoroughly document your concerns and medical history. To help expedite your evaluation, please bring a list of your current medications and medical history.
Ocular Vital Signs & Dilation
Your vision and eye pressure will be assessed — your ocular "vital signs." Your eyes will be dilated and you will be asked to wait as the drops take up to 20 minutes to take effect. Dilation typically lasts 2–6 hours and can temporarily impair your vision. We recommend arranging a driver to and from our office.
Testing & Imaging
While you wait, the doctor will screen your chart and order further diagnostic testing. Depending on your condition, specific imaging tests of your eyes may be performed the same day or scheduled for a separate visit to assist in diagnosis and treatment.
Examination & Diagnosis
You will move to the exam room where the doctor will perform a thorough examination and interpret all findings. Your diagnosis will be reviewed and treatment recommendations made. Most treatments can be performed in the office the same day. If surgery is required, you will meet with a surgery scheduler to arrange all details.

Medication List
A complete list of all current medications and dosages, particularly important if you take medications at set intervals for diabetes.
A Trusted Driver
Pupil dilation lasts 2–6 hours and may impair driving. Please arrange transportation. If this is a barrier to care, we have avenues to assist you.
Family or Friends
You are welcome to bring a family member or friend to help with questions, take notes, or assist with instructions during your visit.

At the time of your consultation, thorough discussion, examination, and testing will be performed to assess the status of your eye condition. The doctor will review findings and offer recommendations, with sufficient time dedicated to your questions.
Detailed Report & Follow-Up
After your visit, a detailed report of the consultation will be generated. We will gladly forward your records to whom you request. Should communications via email, telephone, or other means be necessary, our staff will facilitate the process.
